About Us
We Make Singing Possible
The OV Singers is a community choir from Sabah, Malaysia (North Borneo), which consists of members aged 15 – 57 years old who came from different backgrounds and began their journey together as novice singing enthusiasts in 2015. Despite of the unique differences, they are strong in musical passion and bonds, which is the essential spirit of Sabahan camaraderie. They are recognized as choral achievers in the “Level 3 Singing Ensemble with Distinction” under the Australian GUILD of Music Education in 2015 and further received recognition in “Level 5 Singing Ensemble with Distinction” under the same international examination board.
In June 2016, they completed their advanced “Level 6 Singing Ensemble” examination with exceptional praise from the Senior Adjudicator of the Australian GUILD of Music Education. In August 2016 they organized their first public performance concert entitled “THE OV SINGERS CONCERT (LE DEBUT: ENCHANTING CHORAL EVENING)” in Collaboration with the Music Society of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (Sabah Faculty Branch) and officiated by The Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment Sabah, YB Datuk Phang Yuk Ming.
The OV Singers received their Grade 7 in Concert Certificate under the St. Cecilia School of Music & International Examinations in 2017. The OV Singers organized their “2ND OV SINGERS & FRIENDS CHORAL CONCERT” held on the 18th of August 2018 officiated by the honourable Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Innovation Sabah, Datuk Bruno Vun, in collaboration with the Penampang District Education Office (Sabah Education Department) and proudly supported by the St. Cecilia School of Music International Examination (Australia).
The OV Singers also won two Silver Diploma (Class A) Awards in the “16th Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod – International Choral Competition” held in Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre. The OV Singer is founded by its choral director and conductor, Mr Carrey Oliver, with objectives to promote the culture of choral singing, vocal education, and performing arts in Sabah.
